About the artist:
Art was simply part of my daily life growing up in Central Virginia. It was how I organized food on my plate or flowers in my garden, how I knew what composition was and when to take a picture with my 35mm film camera, or what colors to mix to make my mountains look lonely, and how I wrote all my papers in cursive. I learned by trial and error for the longest time before taking electives, camps, and secondary education at Lynchburg College for studio art.
I am strongly intrigued by the unpredictability of work when it comes to my art. It can be anything from branding work, murals, event photography, commissioned pieces, traveling, teaching, and even writing. Art doesn’t fit every mold, but it does cover a lot of surfaces. I enjoy the textural elements of working in mediums that can be built up like acrylic, spray paint, and clay. My art work has vibrant colors that cover a large format and usually the subject matter of the human figure or an abstract landscape. My work illustrates my ideas about feminism, beauty, and the allure of strong, contour lines.
For me, art is about a series of paths that are attractive to the eye and tell a story to the viewer. I don’t always know the story before I start.
