ASPCA Rachel Ray 100k Challenge

Upcoming Events
Last Date: Saturday, August 30, 2014

We are competing this summer for a chance to win 100k in the ASPCA Rachel Ray challenge. We are competing against 48 other shelters across the nation to increase the number of lives saved by the greatest margin. We want to see 1,000 pets go home that is why we are calling it the Summer of a 1,000 lives.
There are also chances to win categories and in our division we could win $25,000 for the most lives saved in our division and we could win another $25,000 for the best community involvement. We are looking to recruit volunteers to help us in our efforts. Here are some of the volunteer jobs.

Adoption Counselor: Greet and assist potential adopters in pet selection, explain adoption policies, answer questions, remove pets from cages/runs and allow potential adopters to interact with animals.

Transfer Coordinators: Helps to identify adoptable dogs and cats in other area shelters and help to transport transfers between the LHS and the other shelter.

Photographer: Go to offsite events and/or major adoption events at the LHS and take photos that we can utilize for our social medias and website for the 100k Challenge.

Adoption Agents: Pick an available animal from our website and promote this pets adoption. Examples: post their photo and story on your Facebook page. Display them in your email signature. Or post them on your business website. Create a post card or flyer to hand out to friends and to hang around town. Take a cat or dog into your business to promote their adoption. Come and be a greeter at the shelter for your animal. Come up with a creative idea on your own to promote the pet.

Fosters: Take a dog or cat from the LHS and provide it a home, promote them, and encourage adoptions until the pet gets adopted. Supplies can be provided.

Event Volunteers: At an offsite adoption event, setting up or helping take down. Handling adoptable animals at an event, providing potential adopters with info about the animal and allowing them to interact with the animal as well as screening potential adopters.
