Meet our Executive Team
Director of Operations, Amber Cabell
In 2016, Amber joined the Pet Care team at Lynchburg Humane Society and quickly discovered her passion for animal welfare. She dove in head first and has since taken advantage of many educational opportunities such as the Best Friends Management Leadership Certification Program, Google Data Analytics, as well as many courses and certifications through MaddiesFund, Best Friends, and other animal welfare platforms. She has successfully piloted several programs to increase lifesaving and has presented her Pathway Planning program to other animal welfare organizations on a state level at the VA Federation of Humane Societies Conference and on the national level at the 2024 Best Friends Conference.
In her spare time, Amber enjoys being at home with her husband Jermaine, two dogs Duke and Cherish, and two cats Bean and Binx. There you can often find her immersed in a new book or enjoying reruns of I Love Lucy.
Director of Finance and Administration, Wendy King
Wendy King joined LHS in April 2015 as the Business Manager and then became the Director of Finance and Administration in July 2017. Prior to LHS, she was the Campus Student Employment Coordinator at Sweet Briar College and Financial Services Representative at SunTrust Banks. She also has an extensive background in non-profit college education. She is a graduate of James Madison University where she majored in Sociology.
Wendy lives in Lynchburg with her husband, two kids, and adopted dog (a Boston Terrier named Rafi). When she’s not busy with work and family, you can find her at home working on some sort of craft or reading.
Executive Director, Jill Mollohan
Jill Mollohan joined the Lynchburg Humane Society in 2010. Jill is also the Co-president of the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies. She is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Poultry Sciences.
Jill began her involvement in animal welfare in 2004 as a volunteer for a shelter in West Virginia. She has worked in every facet of animal welfare, from volunteer to development to operations. Her passions are mentoring staff to become leaders, implementing creative ideas to maximize lifesaving and integrating technology in the shelter environment to improve efficiencies.
Before entering the animal welfare field, Jill was a business director for a technology company and a finance and administration director at a non-profit in Charleston, WV. Jill currently resides in Lynchburg, VA with her three dogs, Piper, Percy, and Jenna and her cats Oliver and Lady Katherine. In her spare time, Jill enjoys traveling, kayaking, hiking and photography.
Director of Development, Michelle Thomas
Michelle joined LHS as Director of Development in June 2021. Michelle brings extensive experience to the Lynchburg Humane Society, having served most recently as the Corporate Development Manager and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Program Director for the Centra Foundation.
