Community Pet Coordinator – part-time
The Lynchburg Humane Society is seeking a part-time community pet coordinator to join our foster team. Our community pet team handles foster parent recruitment, training, retention and education, provides basic medical support and markets foster pets for foster and adoption placements. The successful candidate will work well in a team environment and also work well independently, be a self motivator, organized, and have superior customer service and communication skills. Veterinarian – Full Time or Part Time
The Lynchburg Humane Society’s spay/neuter clinic provides high quality/high volume spay/neuter services to the public and other shelters regionally. We also provide wellness services. This is an exciting time and opportunity for a veterinarian to come onboard with our nationally recognized team.
You will have the distinction of being part of the industry leading Lynchburg Humane Society and will have the opportunity to be a part of designing and implementation of a brand new medical facility that moves Lynchburg forward in shelter medicine, spay neuter and community engagement.
- This position will work 1-5 days per week Monday through Friday performing high quality spay/neuter surgeries and wellness and dental or shelter medicine..
- You will be trained and supported throughout building skills and efficiency
- You must have a willingness to do what it takes to fulfill our mission of dedication to helping Lynchburg’s pets through sheltering, adoption, spay/neuter programs, education and community outreach.
- You will be an integral part to our vision of helping to create a community where all lives are valued and respected.
- You must be able to operate within our core values.
- Must have an active license to practice veterinary medicine in Virginia or ability to obtain a Virginia license.
- Ability to perform on average, 35 spay/neuter surgeries per day. (If that is not a present skill, must have the ability and drive to work toward and succeed in that goal).
- Ability to obtain a DEA license.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.

LVT or student enrolled in LVT school, full-time and part-time positions
The Lynchburg Humane Society’s South Central Spay/Neuter Clinic is seeking a full time or part time LVT/ LVT student.
Our Humane Alliance affiliated clinic serves 7 counties surrounding the Greater Lynchburg City area, accepting between 125-300 patients a week. Our distinguished, award winning 2 doctor led staff thrives in a fast paced environment that is dedicated to quality animal care for both shelter and owned animals. This is a team oriented environment where a positive attitude, flexible thinking and competent animal handling skills are a must. Our core values focus on a staff that is able to have fun while accomplishing goals in an effective, highly functioning clinic environment.
Duties involved, but are not limited to, surgical assisting, vaccination and medication of surgical patients, patient check-in, drug log maintenance, staff training and vaccine clinic appointments. We are willing to train the right candidate. Students must have passed their Pharmacology course to be considered.

Full Time Transport Driver
Lynchburg Humane Society’s South Central spay neuter clinic in Evington, Virginia is looking to hire a FULL TIME transport driver/kennel-vet assistant position We are seeking someone that loves cats and dogs and is comfortable handling many breeds under stress and in new and challenging situations. You must also love to interact with pet owners in a positive and informative manner and be able to communicate medical information to the owners, collect money and be helpful with animal care questions. You will need to have a clean driving record and be able to maneuver a large van in and out of tight spaces and garages while maintaining the safety of the animals. You must be prompt to work, organized, be able to handle money, become familiar with animal care instructions, be clean and smile. You are the traveling face of the clinic and you will be interacting with other rescue organizations along with other pet owners/adopters.
This is a FULL TIME with benefits position that has a FOUR (4) DAY WORK WEEK. We typically work Monday through Thursday. The transport driver will need to have the flexibility to occasionally work 6:15am to 6:00pm. The typical schedule is 7:00a-5:00p. We may work 6 Fridays/Saturdays a YEAR. No Nights and No weekends.
