The Lynchburg Humane Society is a nationally recognized no-kill shelter with an annual intake of about 3,500 pets. We firmly believe that no healthy or treatable pet should be euthanized. By operating the public shelter for the City of Lynchburg, we accept those who are easily adoptable as pets and those who need special nurturing from abusive or neglectful experiences. Along with our Center for Pets, we also have a regional spay and neuter/wellness clinic, which performs over 7,000 spay/neuter surgeries annually. The Lynchburg Humane Society not only saves pets from the City of Lynchburg, we also save hundreds pets each year who are at risk of euthanasia from other shelters. The Lynchburg Humane Society mentors and trains other organizations in life-saving programs in Virginia and across the country.
