*Save Rate is total intake minus euthanized and died in care divided by total intake.  This is a new formula for us and a new industry standard for reporting save rates rather than live release rates. Both rates are commonly used in the industry but we are transitioning to this new formula for the organization due to new national affiliations.

**live release rate- an industry standard statistic, based on outcome of animals, not on intake. It equals all animals that were adopted, transferred and returned to owner divided by the total outcome of animals.

Statistical information for Virginia Shelters – provided by Petco Foundation

These stats show the importance of achieving a No Kill status for the Lynchburg community. We want to end the euthanasia of all healthy and treatable animals and provide them with the treatment they need to be placed in loving homes. With the help of the community we can make it happen. How? Volunteer, Adopt, Donate, Foster… and if you need to surrender a pet, be patient and allow us time to bring in your pet when we have appropriate space.
