Topanga has quite the story to tell. Topanga lived in a home with her parents, a sweet older couple for all 6 years of her life. Only her name was Tiggy then, and her owners also thought “she” was actually a “he”. Topanga’s owners loved her dearly, we could see it in the type writer written letter her mom left us on the day of her surrender where she mentioned the milk and the turkey meat she fed her daily. But, life happens, and when they had to surrender, Topanga was beside herself. She missed her cat and dog siblings, yes, but she missed her owner and the comfort of a home more. Moving her to a public cat room where she could be around other pets helped with her fear and stress, but it wasn’t until our staff started giving her daily treats, just like her mom had, that we began to see a change in her. Through delicious, smelly *Churu tubes we won the heart of sweet Topanga and got to see what her personality is like outside of these walls. But Topanga’s progress won’t stop here!! Her shyness is only the result of the stress of the shelter environment. In a home, we’re hopeful she will turn right back into the affectionate, calm-natured (and hungry) girl she always has been!
