Our longest stay Jacklyn is HOME!!
Jacklyn has been in our care since June of 2025 after her owner sadly passed away. Jacklyn is 8 years old and has only 2 teeth, and out of all the cats she came in with, Jacklyn has always been the most shy. One by one, they were adopted while Jacklyn stayed behind. After spending quite a while in a temporary foster home and then coming back to the shelter this year, we really wanted to get some more eyes on Jacklyn. We started a social media campaign, and also decided to move her from the condos where she lived by herself to the front of our building, to the quiet and calm Green Sunroom.
Out of the 7 cats she came in with, Jacklyn has been the most shy, so even though she is so fun and beautiful and loves to chat, the general public never seemed to ask about her.
But then a few weeks ago, a woman started browsing around the shelter. Her own senior cat had recently passed away, so she wasn’t sure if she was even prepared to adopt, but she still found joy being around the cats in the shelter. Then she met Jacklyn. She couldn’t stop thinking about her. One day at her own vet, she was telling a tech about her, and by some crazy coincidence the tech had previously known Jacklyn!! She told her how she was, of course, shy and nervous, but she truly believed Jacklyn would be perfect for her. So she came early this week to adopt.
She was so excited to take Jacklyn home, and because she knows just how much we’ve been rooting for Jacklyn, she has already sent us an update.

Her adopter shared the following along with some photos of them getting to know each other:
“I am so thrilled with how it’s going so far! She did spend the first couple of hours hiding in the bathroom… but this morning I put her food in the kitchen where I’ve fed my other cats in the past, and she found it really quickly after I walked away. From looking at cameras, I see that after I went to bed, she spent a few hours exploring all over.” “I gave her another Churu on a plate after breakfast today, and after that I offered her my hand, and she actually walked over and sniffed it! She probably was just hoping for another Churu, but I’m thrilled anyway. I’ll keep letting her decide when to come out and when to come to me, but I think this is such a good start! I love her already.”
