Miss Ivy is Home!!

It finally happened. After nearly a year in the shelter, FeLV+ kitty Miss Ivy was finally adopted this weekend!
Miss Ivy was surrendered to us when her owners had to move, and while she was very happy and healthy, we discovered through routine testing that she was FeLV+. She has lived in our Blue Sunroom ever since and has watched as all the other FeLV cats get adopted one after the other. Until last week. We shared her on socials and explained that while she may not be as outwardly social or melodramatic as other cats, she is still affectionate and sweet and deserves a good home.

And thankfully someone saw it and took her home. They have already shared an update on her about how much she is cherished. Here is a word from them: “Thank you so much for letting my family adopt Miss Ivy! She loves to cuddle up in the blanket while listening to tv. She loves when it’s bedtime more cuddles with her human mom. She loves sitting on her new cat condo toy like a princess.”

This weekend we joined BISSELL Pet Foundation for #EmptyTheShelters for 3 days. We are happy to report that shelter pets are finding loving homes, adopters are meeting their newest family members thanks to the Foundation!! In 3 days we did a total of 51 adoptions.

Our kennels were FULL last week, but not any more!!

Mid last week, we were already struggling with our dog population levels, and then we got word that Animal Control would be bringing in 10 dogs from one home for housing. We were forced to double up the rest of our kennels. We immediately launched an adoption special to make room for these dogs to live comfortably and get our longer-stay dogs into homes! We discounted all dog adoption fees to $20 and made all VIP pets half off. For the 250th birthday of America, we had a pretty good turnout with many long-stay and big dogs going home, including Macaroni, Marshall, Flex, Notorious, Archer, and more not pictured!

Thank you so much to everyone who adopted this weekend ahead of the 4th of July. We have many more adoptions to come, but we’re so happy for the ones who got to be out of the shelter when the fireworks went off!

Back to back kitten events and here is who all went home!

Not only did we host our usual Petco kitten adoption special last Friday, but our partnership with PetSmart is back!! To kick off the beginning of this partnership, we partnered with PetSmart Charities and hosted our very first #AdoptJoyEvent last Saturday as well! Both events included a lot of kittens looking for homes with discounted fees!

Sun’s Out Tongue’s Out Special Recap!

Last week when our kennels started to fill up, we rounded out the end of the week with a last minute dog adoption special! What better time for our dog to go home than in June so they have the rest of the summer months to enjoy the sunshine, go on lake trips, and relax indoors with their new families after.

Last Thursday through Sunday all dog adoption fees including puppies were HALF OFF. Here are just a few of the dogs who found their new families this weekend, including McGee, the face of our special!!
