Sweet potato Tater found happiness along with 94 other pets!

Tater had a family coming in to visit and spend time with him these past few weeks to get to know him and they officially made the decision to adopt Thursday!

Some of you may know, but Tater only had a few friends he would let pet him in the shelter. He struggled to make connections in the shelter environment and was only getting worse the longer he went without a home. He desperately wanted to make friends, but he slowly started closing himself off.

When his new family finally took him home, Tater was confused at first. The TV startled him, he didn’t know where to sleep or use the bathroom, and he was unsure whether he should get comfortable or not. But after a few days, with the love and patience of his new family, he finally realized he wasn’t going back to the shelter. He quickly discovered his favorite place to rest was on the couch, and in their laps.

Tater is a great example of just how much a home can make a difference in a dog’s personality. Tater desperately loves attention but he was so overwhelmed by the uncertainty in his life that he couldn’t allow himself to go there. Now that he’s in a home he’s an entirely different dog!

His new family, our staff, and Tater of course, worked so hard to make this happen. We couldn’t be more proud of Tater as well as grateful to everyone involved in this match. Tater’s adoption fee was even sponsored by a Good Samaritan making things easier for his new owners to spoil him.

Goose and 68 other pets found happiness this week!

Meet sweet Goose! This handsome man was brought into our care because if medical concerns with his bladder. With the help of AECC and Peaksview Animal Hospital, we got Goose healthy again and changed up his diet to help with future urinary care.

While being in our care we discovered that he is such a gentleman of a cat. Loves cuddles, pets, and all the attention. We aren’t surprised his new family snatched him up so quickly!

We are so happy for Goose and his new family! Thank you to everyone who came in and adopted this past week giving so many pets a home.

Carrie came into our care back in June as a lost pet. She instantly became a staff and volunteer favorite with her sweet personality. The volunteers loved walking her and spending time with her in the play yards. Staff described her as a “sweet and gentle soul.”

The shelter life had started to become stressful for Carrie and we placed her into a foster home for a small break from the noise. Not long after her return from her foster vacation a sweet couple from NC noticed Carrie on our website and they decided to make the trip to come in and meet her, and it was love at first sight for Carrie and her new parents. Carrie packed her bags that same day and headed to NC with her new family. We are so happy for her and her new family.

Sweet Shyla went home during our adoption special this weekend!

Shyla is a bundle of joy with a wagging tail that never seems to stop. From the moment she wakes up in the morning, she’s ready to take on the world with her playful spirit!

Shyla was one of our volunteer approved and petcation approved dogs here at the Center! Shyla was always going out on adventures with new buddies and was patiently waiting for someone to have a lifelong adventure with. Saturday that finally happened! Her new mom came in and wanted to know all about her. They instantly connected (we had no doubts there) and the rest is history.

Shyla, now known as Ms. Sasaphronie, is living her dream with new toys all her own, a new home, and most importantly a new family. We are so excited for them and this new journey together.

Homer hit a home run! 36 other pets also found happiness this week!

Homer was brought into our care as a lost pet by a community member with a few health concerns. Our medical team went to work and got Homer feeling 100% again. The staff quickly found out that Homer was quite the cuddle bug. He loves pets, and sitting in laps any chance he can get.

On Friday a couple came in looking for a new addition to add to their family and spotted Homer. Well Homer hit it out of the park and it didn’t take them long to fall in love with his charming personality. We are so happy for them and their new journey together.
