Buddy and 68 other pets’ found happiness this week!

Buddy was in severe pain when he came to us in January. We had to work slowly with him, and it took us two weeks to gain his trust. Buddy was suffering from a large mass that had taken over his entire left ear canal. When we first met Buddy, he was terrified and cowering. After spending time with him outside his kennel to build relationships and trust, we were finally able to walk him and get him ready for his life saving surgery. Our amazing team performed surgery to remove the growth from Buddy, it was so severe that the surgery required removal of his entire ear.

Just a short time into his recovery, Buddy’s outlook had completely changed. He would greet his staff buddies enthusiastically with wiggles and wanted all of the attention. We learned quickly that Buddy loves to give a lot of kisses! This chunky boy turned out to be the biggest love bug!

Buddy caught the attention of a couple who stopped by the Center for Pets a couple weeks ago and they started doing meet and greets with Buddy and our adoption team to make sure he was completely comfortable with them before taking him home. Sure enough he fell head over heels for his new parents and they did with him as well! Buddy has officially been adopted and we couldn’t be happier for him and this new journey.

We want to think his adopters for taking the time to gain Buddy’s trust and for giving him a new home! We also want to thank all of the adopters that came in this week and gave so many pets a new home and family of their own, as well as Piedmont Floor Show for being our adoption banner sponsor and making adoptions like this possible.

Pilot went home with his best friend Boeing and 53 other pets found Happiness this week as well!

Pilot came to LHS back in 2022 and has made tremendous progress. Back then he would never explore his enclosure and would only eat and drink at night. He didn’t have any good experiences with people and was afraid because of it. We tried everything we could to help with his stress levels until one day we decided to give him a friend. Boeing, was exactly what he needed! Now that Pilot has had the comfort of another cat who is a little farther along in their socialization process, he made strides every day to become the best friend anyone could ask for!

Pilot started staying comfortably outside of his hidey-hole for most of the day and his friends here at LHS were even able to give him soft chin scratches, and he would even give out a few kisses here and there!

This past weekend someone came in looking to add some feline companions into her home and a staff member suggested both Pilot and Boeing to her! The two won her over and they are now adopted and living their best life with their new mom.

139 pets found happiness this week! Including our Pearl girl.

Pearl is a very sweet and affectionate cat who has given her fair share of disapproving glares and sassy swats. Some people who don’t know Pearl might think she doesn’t like to be pet, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth, (you just caught her at a bad time.) Those who’ve spent some extra time with Pearl know she craves more than just food, she CRAVES attention!

Pearl spent most of her days sitting in our sunroom watching and greeting all guests as they walked by her windows waiting for the right person to come in and take her home to give her the attention (and let’s be honest, exercise) that she craves.

During our waived fee adoption special we ran over the weekend, for National Adoption Weekend with the Best Friends Animal Society, Pearl finally found her match! We couldn’t be more excited and happier for Pearl and her new mom who is head over heels for this sweet girl.

We want to thank everyone who came out this past week/weekend and adopted a pet and made them part of their family as well as thank you to Petco Love for making adoptions like this possible.

Scrappy and 40 other pets found happiness this week!

Meet Scrappy!

Scrappy is about a year old and sooo playful and loving! After playtime, he’s ready for lots of back rubs and hugs. He loves to sniff and socialize, and it was incredibly hard to not fall in love with him. I mean our staff (Noelle and Erin pictured right) and his new mom couldn’t get enough of this sweet boy!

We are so excited for Scrappy and his new mom to begin this adventure together!

50 dogs and 37 cats found happiness this week!

If you’ve been keeping up with our socials, you’ll know that last week we were completely maxed out on dog space. We decided to have a “Spaced Out” adoption special and waive the adoption fees for our dogs! With lots of hard work from our staff, and of course, our dedicated community rallying together, we were able to find homes for 50 dogs!

Though the cats weren’t included in this adoption special, we still managed to find 37 cats and kittens homes this past week! On Saturday, 6/17 we had an adoption event at Petco, where we waived the fees of 8 kittens. Four of those kittens found homes and as well as Ginger Spice who had been hanging out in the condos there!

On this week’s blog we couldn’t find it to just spotlight one pet for the story, we had so many pets find new moms and dads and we couldn’t be happier for all of them! We have decided to share a couple of the adoption photos instead!

Thank you so much to each one of our wonderful adopters as well as Kevin Davis from Terry Subaru, Ashley Danielle Photography, and others for sponsoring over 60 microchips fees!
