Reunions and happy endings, 50 Pets found Happiness this weekend including two amazing stories!

Renegade

Staff members at LHS create many special bonds with the pets that come in and out of our doors every day. Personally, this has happened to me before, but there is one dog that 100% stole my heart and was always on my mind. Renegade. As devastating as it was for me, the timing just was not right for me to add Renegade to my family. Saturday, the day came for Renegade to start his new life with the perfect family. I was super nervous- given his apprehension of strangers- sad, excited and happy all at the same time for Renegade.

The family brought their dog, who according to them looked very similar to our boy Renegade which is what drew them to come in and meet him. In conversation they mentioned they had adopted their dog from LHS about a year ago. I asked what her name was at LHS and they said ”Sahara”. Renegade’s brothers and sisters were all named after models of Jeeps. THIS WAS HIS SISTER!!! Instantly I knew this was where Renny was meant to be and how this was supposed to play out.

Tears were shed and I felt lost not being to have our trail walk today, but I could not be any happier for my sweet and goofy boy. Congratulations to Renny, his sister and their family. Thank you to Petco Love for bringing dreams like this to life!

Tommy and Angelica

We’d like to celebrate two very special adoptions today. Some time ago, 3 very sick puppies arrived at our Center with a severe case of Parvo. Their names were Tommy, Angelica, and Tyson. Parvovirus is a relentless and unforgiving illness, and while we did everything in our power to treat, care for and save all three pups, Tyson’s condition was too advanced, and he didn’t make it.

Despite the heartbreak, our medical team put all of their efforts into Tommy and Angelica and it paid off!! They made a FULL recovery, and lots of new friends along the way!

While beginning of their LHS residency was sorrowful, the end of their stay is worth celebrating!! We are happy to report that Tommy went home last week with amazing new parents, and Angelica went home with a new Husky brother and Maltese sister!

We couldn’t be more excited for this special pair as we’ve grown very attached to them. We know Tyson is looking down with a warm heart, smiling at his siblings’ newfound happiness!

Titan and Mr. Magoo, plus 49 other pets found happiness this week!

Some things are worth waiting for.

Titan

We are so excited to announce that Titan found happiness after the second chance YOU helped us give him!

Titan not only attended Muddy & Co.’s board and train program our amazing community helped us send him to, he THRIVED in it! This was Titan’s missing step to being his bouncy, tippy tappy, ball chasing, goofball self. Not only did Titan have a great time playing with the other dogs in the program and relaxing in the trainer’s comfortable home environment, he also learned helpful basic manners, how to meet new people confidently, and to depend on his person to guide him through situations. Most importantly, he was equipped to meet his new family!

Titan now looks forward to a life of adventure with people who love and understand him! As his trainer said, “every dog finds their person when they are given the chance. Titan was provided the support he needed and a chance at a new life. This lucky dog is in for lots of new adventures!”

Mr. Magoo

When Mr. Magoo came to us a year ago, he was fractious and barely holding on. He had a horrible infection that consumed his left eye. We weren’t sure if we would be able to save him, but we knew we had to try. After we removed his eye, we knew it was just a matter of time before he was feeling like himself again. Once his infection was under control he slowly started to unravel.

The changes we saw in him over the next year were nothing short of a miracle. He went from being terrified of people, to being obsessed with physical touch. He finally found the home he’s been searching for all along. With his very own brother. Now he’ll spend the rest of his days napping, cuddling, and scaring off garden mice.

We would like to thank his new family for taking the time to get to know him, and we’d also like to thank this month’s sponsor, Petco Love for making success stories like this possible.

Fawn and 35 other Pets Found Happiness this week!

Fawn came into our care May of 2022. She was one of our longest stay cats, simply because she was a bit shy and wouldn’t really come out for affection from humans but enjoyed attention from other cats. We posted about her in our “Did you know? working cats” blog last week explaining why she was here and in hopes of finding this beautiful girl a home, and it worked! Fawn was adopted three days later!

We are so happy for her to begin her journey with her new family. We want to say thank you to her adopters, Will Bostic for sponsoring her care, and to our sponsors at Petco Love for making adoptions like these possible!

Sweet boy Milner and 33 other Pets Found Happiness this week!

Milner quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite here at the Center for Pets, it was honestly inevitable with his happy, friendly, sweet personality. Milner doesn’t know the word stranger and became friends with everyone he met. He even became one of our petcation approved dogs and got to have a couple adventure days, too where he made even more friends!

We made a social media post spotlighting Milner and all his charm from a recent petcation he had been on and two days later he had a family come in and adopt him! Milner now has human siblings to snuggle and call his own. We are all so happy for this friendly boy and his new family.

Thank you so much to his adopters and to our sponsors at Petco Love for making adoptions like this and all the others possible!
