We Were Adopted! May 26th – June 1st!

This week 39 cats, dogs, and little guineas found Happiness!

A few weeks ago 8 guinea pigs were found and dropped off in our lobby. We don’t know where they came from or why they were dropped off without a word, but at the end of the day we are thankful they found their way to us one way or another.

Shortly after their arrival we examined the little ones and discovered the three females, were most likely pregnant. We are happy they got to us in time so we could find them a foster! While the moms-to-be are not available yet, and just the boys found loving homes this week, the moms and babies will have their moment soon! If you are passionate about guinea pigs and want to adopt or foster one of your own please reach out to [email protected].

Thank you so much to all of our adopters this week as well as our sponsors at Petco Love for supporting our life saving cause!

Our longest stay Meeko finally found a home, and her roommate Princess Pepper got to go too!

Nearly two years ago, Meeko was found at Logan’s Roadhouse as a kitten. She grew up in the shelter, she started out as a nervous kitten scared of the world, and scared of people. A few months in, we introduced her to the cat rooms and she loved the cats around her. Many of you may know Meeko. You may not have pet her before, but she’s known for her affinity for beanbag chairs, sunbathing, and relaxing in kitty houses. In these rooms, she met another kitty a few months ago, with a similar personality and likeness to Meeko. Her name was Princess Pepper! Princess Pepper was pretty shy when she first came to the shelter as well, but she just needed time to adjust. Princess was surrendered as an adult and as soon as she was placed in the Living Room with her friends, and Meeko she opened up instantly!!

Last week a woman who works at a veterinary clinic and has an affinity for shy cats, fell in love with the twins, especially Princess Pepper. She wanted to do a good thing and adopt our longest stay kitty, so she decided to adopt both Meeko and Princess Pepper!!

Thank you so much to Meeko and Princess Pepper’s new mom for adopting these girls and giving them a good home to spend their days in! Also shout out to our sponsors this month at Petco Love for supporting our mission and making these adoptions possible!

The Kittens came and the kittens went!!

The first of our 100+ kittens in #LHSfosterhomes became available this week! And guess what? They all found homes thanks to you, our followers, who stayed in the loop on their arrival. One standout adoption was of Key and Peele, brothers who were also adopted by brothers and will spend the rest of their days together wrestling and sunbathing!

It wasn’t just our kittens who had a great week. Thanks to BISSELL Pet Foundation , the two weeks prior were a success for everyone else as well!

Our #EmptyTheShelters adoption special was from May 1st through the 15th, and despite our numbers being low, so many cats and dogs found loving homes. A few important adoptions to note: Tater Tot, one of our longest stay dogs, finally found a home, roommates Nora and Cheesecake found a home together, and Simon finally found a home after being found in the Winter months!

Thank you so much to Bissell and our sponsors this month at Petco Love for supporting us and making these adoptions possible!

Kitty finally finds a Home!!

Earlier this week we shared Pesto’s story to Facebook. Pesto was in a foster home for some time after we discovered he had kitty asthma. His foster mom was his biggest advocate trying to find him a home without brining him back to the shelter. She said “He loves to snuggle in bed and will come sit with you wherever you are! He’s truly the sweetest kitty! He has made me laugh so much- he is such a goofball and has the sweetest personality!”

It wasn’t until we shared his story again and he was back at the Center for Pets for people to see his personality that he finally went home. Just two days after we shared his story, Pesto was adopted.

A sweet man added him to his family and we are so excited for their journey together. Thank you so much to his adopter, and thank you to our sponsors at Petco Love for making his care possible!

Rocky finally found Happiness!!

We think you all know and love Rocky the rock star!! We’ve shared many updates on his journey since he came to us in December. But if you remember when he first came in, Rocky had severely bowed legs, a mass the size of a golf ball and he was emaciated. Rocky wasn’t just skin and bone, his muscles were weak. To minimize the discomfort in his legs he needed physical therapy, and he need to regain some of his strength without putting too much weight on his legs. As weeks went on, Rocky’s luck was up and his spirits too. We were able to successfully remove his mass and find him an amazing foster where he could exercise and experience the love of a home.

Rocky was made available for adoption in his foster home but didn’t come back to the shelter until a few weeks ago. That’s when his stardom took off! His story was the focus of our annual Best Friend Ball fundraiser and he got to make an appearance and greet all his fans.

Look Just look at his amazing transformation!!

A few days later he met his match, and his new mom! We are so excited for Rocky’s new journey, and so thankful to his adopter. We know he’ll love his time in a home and can’t wait to see him grown even stronger. Shoutout Petco Love for being this month’s sponsors and making it possible for us to rescue dogs like Rocky!
